shawn osullivan of up and coming new york new wave bands led er est and further reductions, brings us the latest release on wt. the easiest description would be drop bass network meets berghain dub techno meets the new sound of amsterdam with a little bit of acid and industrial sprinkled in, but you should listen to the clips yourself to decide. shawn takes synths, drummachines, a sequencer and some effects and records one take on a stereo track. this leaves room for wild mistakes, personal moments, and blown out sound. its a classic techno sound that sounds like it should have been done before, but hasnt.

the dirty dutch! anticlub a notorious collective from eindhoven, the southern capital of holland, was inspired to push itself into a new direction. the inspiration came from a painting by an old lady that drew the attention and gave the impulse to create the album freaks and followers. as the title suggests there are two kinds of people, people who take risks and people who do not. as anticlub used to be a risk-taker but slowly settled in an unwanted comfort zone, this created dissatisfaction and led to a creative standstill. seeing the painting everything became clear again. one should not stand still but keep moving and evolve oneself into new areas that one has not yet explored creatively. as lessismore is from the same dutch city, this state of mind also hit the lessismore label, which inevitable resulted in both parties joining forces to release this diverse album by a former underground techno crew called anticlub. as the lessismore label is known for its typically styled techno, lessismore was searching for a new impulse sound wise and visually, to ensure creative satisfaction in the years to come. with this album everything came together and the lessismore crew reunited to renew their input into the label, which was once founded to be a creative platform and an artistic journey and in retrospective clearly not a platform where one should repeat itself time after time. freaks and followers is an 8 track album with raw electronic based music combined with a variety of vocal work by different new anticlub members. the overall feel of the album is a dark punky attitude that reminds of the good old days of rave, which in the early nineties dominated the dutch club and party scene. this period can be defined as being careless and not taking credibility into account, trying new things, being blunt and just partying your hart out. being older this is a feeling that will never have to die, proved by the old lady whose painting was used as the art-work of the album release.

there is no doubt in anyones mind that 2011 has been an incredible year for mr. julio bashmore. a string of stellar eps on an array of prolific labels have led to this beautifully filmic piece of house music that closes an equally compelling year for futureboogie recordings. >riff wrath< is a perfect embodiment of bashmores fluid modern soul and understated drive with a dusty haze of of cosmic strumming.

the tracks blend the best of booth producers, rachmads detroit influence shaped with lauxs dynamic style. the title track viking, is led by a synth that sweeps in an almost hyperventilating rhythm that raising the track with a series of industrial ticks and clicks that flavour the german, dutch and detroit mix. a dark bassline leads the track into its climax where glitchy synths squeak and stretch before the track drops. carlos is a track that bounces with groove. morse-like rhythmic bleeps carry the track cementing the individuality that is created in the ep. awash with sweeping sounds, the track gains a smoother feeling of deep techno demostrating their delicacy. 7tine is a juggernaut with a dark, heavy rhythm, showing the industrial power of the pairs production. flanged distortion scratching like fingernails give the track a tense edge, while simple yet powerful synths steer the ep into an eerie conclusion.

ness became interested in electronic music in the late 90s. in 2004 he started djing, taking inspiration from various genres going from trance to pure experimentation. the interest in music led him to attend various courses and audio engineer for some years and the conservatory of his hometown. the need to express his emotions through music led him to experiment and research in recent years that better reflect his sound. since 2009 he founded his own label mono records with his friend bettosun, and releases music in labels such as prologue, sonata and varianz. the experience gained over the years leads to define his dj sets that are characterized by a strong array of techno and house at the same time.

fade to mind is a both a record label and a movement, a series of club nights and cooperative projects in music, visual art, video and apparel. led by los angeles based kingdom, fade to mind is an injection of the personal back into contemporary club music. sparked by kingdoms longstanding relationships with dallas dj/producer prince william, la-based nguzunguzu and total freedom, as well londons night slugs collective (to which fade to mind will operate as a sister label), fade to mind marks a dramatic genesis of collaboration between the uk and american undergrounds.

southside johnny & the asbury jukes are a jersey shore musical group led by southside johnny. they have been recording albums since 1976 and are closely associated with bruce springsteen & the e street band.

krasimir gyurov (vizar) has dealt with electronic music since 2000. his style is influenced by nature with hypnotic deep pads and mystic drones. in 2004 he made a contact with underground a netlabel scene and several years later he released his first eps for spanish netlabels offaudio and antiritmo. from 2008 he played on the biggest underground techno festival in his country bulgaria - artmospheric festival, where the guests were donato dozzy, brando lupi, dave twomey. ness became interested in electronic music in the late 90s. in 2004 he started djing, taking inspiration from various genres going from trance to pure experimentation. the interest in music led him to attend various courses and audio engineer for some years and the conservatory of his hometown. the need to express his emotions through music led him to experiment and research in recent years that better reflect his sound.since 2009 he founded his own label mono records with his friend bettosun, and releases music in labels such as prologue, sonata and varianz. the experience gained over the years leads to define his dj sets that are characterized by a strong array of techno and house at the same time.

after his last ep on stil vor talent in 2009, born-and-bread berliner sascha braemer is now back with three fresh tracks for the spring of 2011. in the meantime, his funky minimal jump-up tech-house has led him to release on labels as prolific as kindisch or dirtybird. things kick off with >belle<, a ferocious attack on your groove muscles and dancing bones. this tune glides as softly as the wings of an angel while shaking you around like a giant would a dwarf. the up-beat groove is based on a great cut-up vocal sample and some animating synthesizer stabs. sweet! then, >felicitous<, which is considerably slower than the previous two tracks. still, the vocal on this one and the deep electronic body come together perfectly to form a deep and dirty suckerpunch to your euphoria synapses. last up is >people< keeps the effected vocal approach and that really makes this tune. imagine a super deep bassline, some wonderfully syncopated hi-hat trickles and a constant groove to underline the power of the vocal. this track is club pop - so deep and yet so magic it will run shivers down your spine on the breakdown. sascha braemer seems to have put all his experience of peak-time club moments to early morning afterhour visions into his own transcript of signature sound. this is not be mistaken, this is simply on-point

this new reference on dilek records is something very particular and out of the ordinary. it was achieved after a long period of work in the studio, which lasted three years and was done with a lot of heart and passion. its the 10th vinyl release of this surprising swiss/argentinean label who is now presenting an extremely multicultural project. these productions are full of diversity and humanity, telling the story of an unusual encounter that led to a beautiful musical project with many influences, but mainly focused on the dancefloor, without complexes and far away from the purism.
